Is wireless never as good as hardwired? Uverse + uplinked Asus RT-N66U? I have been trying to keep my Uverse after these 6 months, but I think about going back to Comcast every day. But only if it would be any better for wireless. Nothing is hard wired in my house, except the access point for my 2nd wireless Uverse tv box in the bedroom. My PC, our laptop, and our ipad all use the wireless. I added that Asus wireless router setup shortly after Uverse was installed in my house, just thinking it must be better. The problem: I watch YouTube videos all night long on my wireless PC. My connection stops loading the videos all the time, especially when a TV is on or recording. I think this bandwidth is not good enough for me, or else it is because of the wireless. Firewalls: I went into the AT&T router setup and set my "router" for the "DMZplus" button to allow everything to get to the router. Also, I went into my Asus RT-N66U firewall tab and turn all that off. I also turned off the DoS protection and things like that. So I am not sure why my connection keeps dying. Is my problem really Uverse and crappy bandwidth with TV's on, or is wireless just not super reliable like a hard cable? I have done speedtest.net on my PC many times and get a nice 20-21 down, 3-4 up. I dont have the top top tier speed available at my house, i think i have 22 or 24 or something. The Uverse green box is right outside my house, 100 ft away. The AT&T router is all cat-5 cable from the box on the side of my house all the way to the AT&T master router. Would there be any improvement to maybe remove the Asus from the picture and try and go with a more simple setup?
