Hello:
I need help in setting up port forwarding for a relative. The package is U-verse with 5 static IPs.
Relative initially had just dynamic IP ADSL1 (1.5Mbps) and port forwarding worked, for 24 hours. Then for some reason it just stopped working. Gateway was a 3347-02.
So the subscription was changed to 5 static U-verse (12Mbps) with Pace 5031nv. The tech actually did not set up the Pace to use the static IPs. He just wrote the IPs by hand on an envelope (!)--no subnet mask, no gateway info. I had to call AT&T tier2 support and they told me to add a Supplementary Network with the IP info. The tech suggested we check Auto Firewall Open.
We then connected a Linksys E2500 to the 5031nv and set the Linksys's WAN connection to DHCP. We went back into the Pace's LAN > IP Address Allocation and in the entry for the Linksys, set:
Firewall [disabled]
Address assignment/WAN IP Mapping [I can't recall exactly now, but we selected the static IP].
I didn't have a lot of confidence because sometimes the Linksys would show it's Connected by Static IP. Sometimes it would say DHCP. Eventually it stayed saying "Connected DHCP."
We confirmed that the WAN IP was indeed the static IP we chose. Then we tried to open port 22 on the Linksys. I've configured port forwarding many times without any issue. But it just seems this site is unique. Maybe it has something to do with how AT&T is allocating static IPs. I just forward a single port to a statically-allocated IP on our LAN but I just can't connect to the port. The Linksys's log does show the attempt but ssh doesn't work. I have not made any changes to the firewall on the Pace. It has to be possible. What am I missing? We called AT&T tier2 again but the gentleman said he does not have the training to help us with our configuration. An unfortunate situation compounded by the fact that there is no documentation for the Pace.
Additional info: Pace's LAN is 192.168.0.0; Linksys's LAN is 192.168.1.0. From within the Linksys's LAN segment I can access the Pace. I can't access 192.168.1.0 from 192.168.0.0--as expected. MTU on the Pace is 1500.
Thanks for any tips anyone could provide.
