Motorola NVG510 serious problems

I have AT&T internet service. The router they have installed is the NVG510 and the connection is miserable. God awful. It is out more times than it is up. Sometimes Broadband will be down and line state is up, sometimes both are down. Can someone help me out on possible causes? I haven't been able to see a common denominator between the disconnects but what do I know. I have reset it manually and via the routers website, changed transmit channels, hell I have pretty much tweaked with every possible setting with no luck. When I run the router websites diagnostic test, its always the ethernet and authentication tests that show as fail. I have no idea if any of this info will help, but i figured I would post it in case you needed it. Also if you need other data to know more info just let me know.
