Hi Everyone -
Need help understanding how to transfer my ATT Uverse shows from my old DVR to my new DVR. From some preliminary research, it looks like this forum has the best advice.
The old DVR stopped working, and ATT swapped it for a new one. While ATT told me that there is nothing they support for saving the shows on the old disk, their rep did say that I was welcome to open the boxes and try. (Of course, it will cost me if I break it. I'm ok with that.)
Here's what I've done thus far:
1) I tried mounting the old disk into the new DVR box. This caused the new DVR box to display the same broken behavior as the old one. I replaced the new disk back into the new box and all was well again.
2) I've mounted the old disk on my PC, and I can see all of the files in the "dvrvol" directory. The disk passes SMART testing and a chkdsk.
Can I just mount both the old and the new disks onto my PC and then copy the "dvrvol" directory from the old disk to the new one? I've read some posts that indicate the disk format ATT is using is a proprietary, but I don't know if that means I can't copy files from the old disk to the new. The disk reports a standard FAT32 file system.
Would appreciate any help.
Please let me know what additional information I can provide or clarify.
Thanks in advance.
