My brother has been spending most of the past few days streaming 1Mbps HD video to Twitch.tv while also chatting with his friend on Skype, which doesn't seem to present him any problems. Yet somehow, I'm unable to use the remaining 2Mbps of my 24/3 profile to use Skype from my computer, where my friends frequently complained that I either dropped out or sounded like a robot. Dolby Axon also tends to frequently disconnect.
I am wondering if this is a NAT issue with the 3801 IGD, or with my own OpenWrt router running behind it in DMZ+ mode. I'd even be willing to shell out to have one of those Motorola gateways installed so I can use the real bridge mode with it, even if the Power profile is unavailable in my region as of yet, if it would stop this misbehavior.
I already have OpenWrt's qos-scripts running on my router, but that doesn't seem to help much. Is there anything else I should look into?
